Why we exist
Built by a lighting designer who wanted to see the whole path
Lighting designers should be able to see the whole path from specification to purchase. That belief is why Sourcery exists.
Sourcery started with a question lighting designers ask on almost every project: why is it so hard to see what happens between the specification and the purchase order? Prices, lead times, and product details move through email threads and spreadsheets, and the people who specify the lighting often have the least visibility into how it gets bought.
Paul Boken, Sourcery's CEO and co-founder, has spent 25 years as a lighting designer. He holds the LC, IALD, and CLD credentials and has worked on projects across North America, China, Turkey, and the Middle East. A long interest in how technology could open up lighting procurement is the founding thesis behind Sourcery, and behind his design practice, WeLight.
Paul founded Sourcery with co-founders and shareholders including Glenn Boccini, Paul Hudson, and Ben Fischer, who came together as the company's founding group in 2020. We built the platform to augment the lighting channel, not replace it. Designers, agents, and distributors do the work that makes projects happen, and our job is to give each of them better information and less busywork.
Today, a team of engineers and specialists in product, sales, and customer success carries that idea forward, with advisors who bring experience in the lighting industry, legal strategy, and software sales.
